NASCAR reporter Steve Byrnes has passed away at the age of 56.
Just days after the NASCAR community showed their support for him by naming the Sprint Cup race at Bristol the “Food City 500 in Support of Steve Byrnes and Stand Up To Cancer,” the beloved NASCAR reporter has passed away due to complication related to his battle with cancer.
Steve began his NASCAR reporting career in 1985 as host of TNN’s “Inside Winston Cup Racing” and continued over the years on CBS and FOX. Learn more about the career and life of Steve Byrnes at NASCAR.com.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Steve’s family and friends in this difficult time.
I think Dale Earnhardt Jr. said it best with a post to his Facebook page: “My hope is Steve was able to see how much he was loved & appreciated by so many. Rest easy friend. Prayers to his family. #ByrnesStrong”
