Torrey Ward Memorial to Take Place Monday in Hancock Stadium Club
NORMAL, Ill. – The community is invited to attend an open house memorial in remembrance of Illinois State associate head men’s basketball coach Torrey Ward, Monday, April 20, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Hancock Stadium Club.
Illinois State fans and friends of Ward are encouraged to stop by any time between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. to offer their condolences to members of Ward’s family. Ward will also be memorialized through photos and videos at Monday’s event.
Individuals are welcome to park in lots adjacent to Hancock Stadium and follow signs to the elevators and up to the third floor, where the memorial will take place.
Ward was elevated to associate head coach of the Illinois State men’s basketball team in May of 2014, after serving as an assistant at ISU since 2012-13. In three seasons with the Redbirds, Ward helped ISU achieve a 58-44 record, including three triumphs over Top-25 programs. He, along with six other passengers, passed away in a tragic plane crash April 7.
Ward was laid to rest during a funeral service April 12 in Birmingham, Alabama.
