Country music has always tackled subjects that face people in everyday life. Sam Hunt has tackled the subject of domestic violence in his latest music video.

When you listen to “Take Your Time” by Sam Hunt, you would likely think the song is about an alternative method of picking up a woman at a bar.

However, Sam took the music video for the song in another direction, one you might not have ever thought of by listening to the lyrics.

I listened to the words of the song while watching the music video below. It was obvious to me that the idea for the music video does match the song. While the song is undeniably about an alternative “pick up method,” the reason for the alternative is that the man is trying to show the woman respect by not using some cliché pickup line or getting her drunk.

When you think about that, I think it also becomes obvious that the song DOES fit the issue of domestic violence as well. If you show your partner respect at home, things should never escalate to the level that would be domestic violence.
