Last night (3/9) on season eight of “The Voice” the blind auditions ended and the battles began with Blake Shelton adding an artist and losing one for Team Blake.

Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine and Pharrell Williams all filled their teams before Blake as the blind auditions wound down. With his button being the only active one with just one spot left on his team and for season eight of “The Voice” overall, Blake finally pushed his button for Hannah Kirby. With all of the teams filled, it was time to start the battle rounds on “The Voice.” For season eight the show decided not to wait to air the battles and went right into them in the second hour of the episode. Team Pharrell, Team Adam and Team Blake were the first to be featured.

Pharrell pitted Ashley Morgan against Mia Z. Pharrell chose to keep Mia Z on his team moving forward and Christina was able to use her first steal to add Ashley Morgan to her team.

Adam paired James McNeiece and Tonya Boyd-Cannon in the battles. Adam chose to keep Tonya on his team sending James home.

The final battle of the night was Team Blake’s Brian Johnson and Joshua Davis. The two performed an emotional, stripped-down version of “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door.” Watch the video of the battle below where Blake chooses to keep Brian and another coach steals Joshua.

The season eight battles continue tonight on “The Voice” starting at 7pm central time on NBC.
