Blake Shelton persuaded four artists to join Team Blake as the blind auditions continued last night (3/3) on season eight of “The Voice.”
The hopeful artists sang hoping that at least one chair would turn and move them forward on the hit singing competition show on NBC. There were a couple of surprises last night on the show.
Jack Gregori is a country singer with a powerful baritone voice. He showed off his chops by singing the Johnny Cash iconic song “Ring Of Fire.” Adam Levine hit his button for Jack. No other coach pushed their button, not even Blake. Blake said he didn’t hit his button because he wanted Adam to get Jack so that he could see what the pop-rocker coach would do with a real country singer.
By the end of the night Adam had picked up three artists bringing Team Adam to 11 in total with room for one more artist to be added next week.
Christina Aguilera scored four new artists bringing her Team Xtina total to 11 artists as well with just a single spot available.
Pharrell Williams scored two artists for the night leaving Team Pharrell with two available slots as he has a total of 10 artists currently on his team.
Blake scored four new artists for Team Blake to bring his total to 11 with a single available slot left to fill. One of Blake’s new artists was a surprise to everybody that he chose Team Blake over Team Adam.
Brian Johnson is a pop style singer how stated in the artist vignette prior to his performance that he grew up listening to Adam and his group Maroon 5. That made everybody figure that he would choose Adam as his coach when he and Blake were the only two to press their buttons. In the end though Brian chose Blake as his coach because of what Blake said while battling Adam for the artist.
Brenna Yaegar took a big risk with her blind audition singing a song that Blake had on hold to record and gave to his wife superstar Miranda Lambert when she expressed how bad she wanted to be the one to record it. That makes “The House That Built Me” a very special song to Blake and Brenna did it justice as she did get Blake to turn his chair in the end after Adam had already turned. No surprise that the young singer chose to join Team Blake.
In another montage of artists Blake also scored Bay Brooks for his team.
The final artist of the night was Corey Kent White. He performed his version of “Chicken Fried” and motivated both Pharrell and Blake to hit their buttons. Earlier in the night Blake and Adam had made a pact to help each other when they were not both going for an artist. Adam, however, lobbied for Corey Kent to join Team Pharrell instead of holding to his agreement with Blake. In the end the country singer from Oklahoma still decided to join his fellow Okie’s team joining Team Blake.
With Blake, Christina and Adam only having a single slot available on each of their teams and Pharrell with two open spots, the blind auditions will wrap up for season eight of “The Voice” next week when the show returns Monday night (3/9) at 7pm central time.
