Miranda Lambert won the Grammy for Best Country Album Sunday (2/8) and she says that she feels "validated" by the award.

CMT.com reports that the reigning CMA and ACM Female Vocalist of the Year stated in the press room at the 57th Grammy Awards that she spent extra time working on Platinum: “I’ve been doing this with a record deal for 10 years, so I felt like this record, Platinum, was the one that was gonna set up the next decade of my career, sort of launch me into the next phase. So, I spent extra time and extra effort and just took so much care in picking the right songs and writing the right songs, and I really wanted it to celebrate where I’d been and where I’m going. And, I felt like I did that.”

Miranda said that holding the Grammy for her work on Platinum validates her efforts: “It kinda validates you to keep doing what you do when you are holding this that what you do is working and people are paying attention and people are enjoying it and it’s moving people. That’s why we make music — to move people. This makes all that make sense.”

Miranda has been had 11 Grammy nominations during her career. She won the 2011 Grammy for Best Female Country Vocal Performance for her song “The House That Built Me.” She has had a nomination for best country album before from the Grammys twice before for her albums “Revolution” and “Four The Record,” but did not score the Grammy win for the projects.
