Miranda Lambert's MuttNation Foundation is celebrating its second year of an initiative to help shelters across the United States with Mutts Across America.

For the second year Miranda and her team at the MuttNation Foundation are preparing to lend financial support to 50 shelters across America with the initiative.

The shelters that are awarded the financial help from the foundation meet specific criteria including high adoption rate, low euthanasia rates, focus on volunteerism, focus on individual fund-raising, spay and neutering, online presence, fiscal responsibility and more.

In a press release Miranda said: "I feel so passionately about helping all animals and I’m thrilled that we have once again been able to give to phenomenal shelters all across the country. The people at these shelters do such amazing work day in and day out and are truly heroes for the animals."

Taste of Country reports that in the seven years that the MuttNation Foundation has been operating it has been able to raise more than $1.5 million to help shelter animals across the United States.
