Blake Shelton delivered comedy, music and strong ratings for his first time hosting Saturday Night Live (SNL) last week.
Last Saturday night (1/24) Blake served not only as the SNL host but also the musical guest for the night. Music Row reports that Blake's gig on the show served up some strong ratings for SNL. The show scored a "rating of 4.7 in 56 markets metered by Nielsen Media Research, with a 2.2 among adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with Local People Meters." That is an increase of 15 percent in the household ratings and 10 percent in the demo ratings over the previous week's show that was hosted by Kevin Heart with musical guest Sia. It is the second-best ratings night of the season so far for the show.
Blake told People magazine he went into the hosting duties with the intention of doing whatever the writers and producers wanted him to do. "I wanted to take the full ride and what a ride it was. Any sketch the cast and writers wanted to do, I was up for it. They are an amazing group of talented people," Blake told the magazine.
If there was anything Blake could have changed about the show it would have been doing a sketch that wasn't done: "D**k in a Box! That's a skit I would have loved to be a part of. Classic!"
Why doesn't that surprise me coming from Blake?
