Darius Rucker lent his voice to bring a song inspired by a St. Jude patient (written by his father) to bring hope to the "Possibilities" that St. Jude gives children.
Brennan Simkins was diagnosed with a deadly form of Leukemia in 2009 at the age of seven. The doctors at St. Jude Children's Reasearch Hospital treated Brenna through four bone marrow transplants to save his life.
While many would give up facing such a difficult battle Brennan and his parents Turner and Tara did not. Luckily for all three of them, neither did St. Jude.
Tara made a blog post about what her son was dealing with which inspired her husband to write the song "Possibilities." The song was recorded locally in their hometown of Augusta, Georgia. Then, they started pitching the song in Nashville for the chance to take it to a national level.
With the thoughts, prayers and support of friends and family and the treatment from St. Jude, Brennan defied the odds and is now a happy 12-year-old boy that is another St. Jude success story with a life full of possibilities ahead of him.
In 2013 the song came to the attention of Grammy winner Darius Rucker who has been a long time supporter of St. Jude. He decided to record the song to help out the amazing work that St. Jude.
“Music is really good at giving people hope to think things are going to get better. That’s what this song is all about,” he said. “I think a lot of parents, when their kids get sick, hope is so hard to find. When I heard it, I was excited to do it.”
