What do iTunes sales Predict for Craig Wayne Boyd and Blake Shelton on ‘The Voice’?

The voting is over and tonight we will find out who the winner of season seven of “The Voice” will be. What do the iTunes sales predict for Craig Wayne Boyd and Blake Shelton?

First I want to remind you that for the finals ALL iTunes sales from the entire season are counted as votes for each of the final four artists. That can be a game changer for any of the artists in both good and negative ways when it comes to naming the winner of the hit NBC singing competition.

I also want to remind you that iTunes is just one way of voting among a handful of ways. That means while the iTunes votes are important, they are only a fraction of the total votes each artist receives. I will also remind you that any artist in the top ten on iTunes when voting closes have those specific votes multiplied by ten for their final tally.

Since all of the iTunes sales are counted for the final vote, I decided to look at all songs in the top 100 on the iTunes charts at 11am central (12noon eastern), the close of the final voting for season seven of “The Voice.” What I found was interesting was that 21 of the top 100 songs on the iTunes chart are from the final four on “The Voice.” That’s over one fifth of the total songs coming from the TV show!

Here are where the artists and their songs were at the close of voting on iTunes in the top 100:

#1 – Matt McAndrew “Wasted Love”
#2 – Craig Wayne Boyd “My Baby’s Got A Smile On Her Face”
#4 – Chris Jamison “Velvet”
#7 – Chris Jamison & Adam Levine “Lost Without U”
#8 – Damien “Soldier”
#11 – Matt McAndrew & Adam Levine “Lost Stars”
#12 – Chris Jamison “Cry Me A River”
#13 – Craig Wayne Boyd “In Pictures”
#14 – Matt McAndrew “Somewhere Over The Rainbow”
#21 – Craig Wayne Boyd & Blake Shelton “Boots On”
#23 – Craig Wayne Boyd “The Old Rugged Cross”
#26 – Damien & Adam Levine “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me”
#30 – Matt McAndrew “Take Me To Church”
#32 – Matt McAndrew “The Blower’s Daughter”
#37 – Damien “A Song For You”
#40 – Matt McAndrew “Make It Rain”
#69 – Craig Wayne Boyd “I Walk The Line”
#80 – Chris Jamison “When I Was Your Man”
#96 – Matt McAndrew “A Thousand Years”
#97 – Chris Jamison “Jealous”
#98 – Matt McAndrew “God Only Knows”

That is eight songs in the top 100 on iTunes for Matt, five each for Craig Wayne and Chris and three for Damien. I would say that at least on iTunes that would likely give the edge to Matt for the vote. However, as I pointed out previously, there are other forms of voting that fans can do and that has changed what the iTunes sales/votes have indicated in the past.

What does all of this mean for Craig Wayne Boyd and Blake Shelton for season seven of “The Voice”? I’m not sure other than I feel like Craig Wayne has a real shot at capturing the win for himself and his coach.

The only thing that I can say 100% for sure is that if one of Adam’s artists ultimately wins it will bring him even with Blake in total wins as a coach at three each. If Craig Wayne Boyd becomes the winner that will move Blake up to four wins as a coach and creates a buffer between him and Adam for total wins.

I will say that as a member of the country music industry and an avid Team Blake supporter, I hope that it IS Craig Wayne Boyd and Blake Shelton that are announced as the winners tonight on the season seven finale of “The Voice” at 7pm central time on NBC. However, no matter what happens for Craig Wayne on tonight’s seaso finale, I know we WILL be hearting his music on country radio.
