Hands All Around Quilt Guild Meeting

The Hands All Around Quilt Guild will meet on Thursday, October 1st at 7 pm at the Mennonite Church of Normal, 805 S. Cottage Ave., Normal.

The speaker will be Carl Hentsch (3dogdesignco.com), a quilt designer who is gaining national attention. He began his first craft project at the age of ten. In the mid to late 90’s, he discovered HGTV, Alex Anderson, and Eleanor Burns’ “Quilt in a Day.” One day, Eleanor’s son was on the show and he was quilting! He realized that guys can do it too.

Many quilters are confused when choosing colors and fabrics for their quilts. In his lecture, Color 101, Carl will explain the color wheel and the many tools that he uses to sect his color schemes. He will also discuss his inspiration and how those translate to his quilts. You will learn how to combine these techniques in your next quilt.

The workshop on Friday is “Evergreen.” Choose a border print and three fabrics to make this quilt. Saturday’s workshop is “Spinning Stars.” Make this six-pointed star hexagon quilt with no Y-seams. Go to the Guild website for more information and workshop enrollment forms, HAAQG.tripod.com.

Membership for the 2015-2016 Guild year is $30 for a General member and $25 for Seniors (65 or better) and Juniors (18 or under). There is a $10 fee for the lecture for non-members. Membership forms are available at the door and on the website at HAAQG.tripod.com
