Country music singer-songwriter Walker Hayes feels that honesty is the best policy, especially on his albums like his new one Boom out today.
Walker believes the secret to writing great songs is conveying honesty on every single track.
“Telling the absolute truth to me is one of the main ingredients,” he states, “’cause I feel like the second you bend it or deviate from it, or insert truck instead of Honda to be more generic, I think you just took a little of the magic away.”
The honesty seems to be working with the debut single from the new album. “You Broke Up With Me” is Walker’s first top 15 single and is still climbing on the country radio airplay singles charts.
The theme of the song is a guy out having fun and runs into his ex-girlfriend. The ex starts acting jealous and wants the guy to tone down his fun while she is there. He reminds her that, “You Broke Up With Me” and doesn’t feel the need to pull back in any way.
If this kind of honesty is what is in every track on Boom by Walker Hayes, this new album could take the singer-songwriter to the next level in his career. I personally look forward to listening to the album and finding out.
